Journal ArticleDOI

Increased Estrogen Production in Obese Men

TL;DR: It is postulate that obese men exhibit defective estrogen receptors, leading to decreased T-estrogen-binding globulin, increased clearance of androgenic hormones, and elevated estrogen production rates, and that testosterone concentrations were normal in obese men.
Journal ArticleDOI

Elevated production and metabolic clearance rates of androgens in morbidly obese women.

TL;DR: Obesity is a state of increased androgen production and accelerated clearance, and 3 alpha-diol G levels in obese women were only minimally elevated, in contrast to values in the hirsute women, perhaps reflecting the apparent androgen ineffectiveness.
Journal ArticleDOI

Malignant interstitial cell carcinoma of the testis: report of two cases with steroid synthetic profiles, response to therapy, and review of the literature.

TL;DR: Endocrine studies revealed high plasma T and estradiol, diagnostic of a defect in T secretion as a result of a partial 17‐hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase deficiency as seen in male pseudohermaphroditism.
Journal ArticleDOI

The starved kidney: a defect in renal concentrating ability.

TL;DR: Data show that the renal tubule is partially insensitive to antidiuretic hormone at a time when it is also insensitive to mineralocorticoids.
