Journal ArticleDOI
Space-time patterns of Cenozoic arc volcanism in central Mexico: From the Sierra Madre Occidental to the Mexican Volcanic Belt
TL;DR: A histogram of 778 isotopic ages of magmatic rocks younger than Eocene in central Mexico shows a multimodal distribution with peaks at about 30 Ma, 23 Ma, 10 Ma, and 5 Ma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Temporal Control of Subduction Magmatism in the Eastern Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt: Mantle Sources, Slab Contributions, and Crustal Contamination
Arturo Gómez-Tuena,A. Lagatta,Charles H. Langmuir,Steven L. Goldstein,Fernando Ortega-Gutiérrez,Gerardo Carrasco-Núñez +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied how temporal changes in subduction parameters influence convergent margin volcanism in the easternmost part of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt.
Journal ArticleDOI
A voluminous avalanche-induced lahar from Citlaltépetl volcano, Mexico: Implications for hazard assessment
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the origin of the Citlaltepetl lahar and found that it had an origin as a sector collapse of hydrothermally altered rock that transformed from a debris avalanche to a cohesive lahar very close to its source.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lateral vent migration during phreatomagmatic and magmatic eruptions at Tecuitlapa Maar, east-central Mexico
TL;DR: Tecuitlapa Maar as discussed by the authors is a late Quaternary, 100m-deep, > 1 km-diameter crater with an alignment of scoria cones, building in height to the east, within it.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative lahar hazard mapping at Volcan Citlaltépetl, Mexico using SRTM, ASTER and DTED-1 digital topographic data
Bernard E. Hubbard,Michael F. Sheridan,Gerardo Carrasco-Núñez,Rodolfo Díaz-Castellón,Sergio Raúl Rodríguez +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, the utility of spaceborne SRTM and ASTER DEMs with baseline DTED-1 topography for mapping lahar inundation hazards from volcan Citlaltepetl, Mexico, a volcano which has had a history of producing debris flows of various extents.
