Journal ArticleDOI

Orowan strengthening and forest hardening superposition examined by dislocation dynamics simulations

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors use a rule of mixtures model to characterize the individual and the superposed contributions of two major mechanisms of crystal plasticity, i.e., Orowan strengthening and forest hardening.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simulation of screw dislocation motion in iron by molecular dynamics simulations.

TL;DR: It is shown that the differences between experimental and simulation conditions lead to a significant difference in activation energy, which provides the link between MD and mesoscopic simulations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Slip systems interactions in α-iron determined by dislocation dynamics simulations

TL;DR: In this article, a massive DD simulation of a tensile test in duplex slip condition was performed and the so obtained crystalline law was used to predict the flow stress in a massive dislocation dynamics simulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dislocation study of prismatic slip systems and their interactions in hexagonal close packed metals: application to zirconium

TL;DR: In this article, a simulation of dislocation dynamics in single crystals of hcp zirconium is presented with emphasis on the hardening associated with prismatic slip at low temperature.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structure and mobility of the 12 {112} edge dislocation in BCC iron studied by molecular dynamics

- 01 Mar 2009 -
TL;DR: In this article, the core structure and motion mechanism of the 1 2 1 1 1 ¯ > { 1 1 2 } edge dislocation in α-iron were investigated in detail, and it was shown that the accommodation of the distortion due to the insertion of the extra halfplanes is not equivalent in the planes above and below the dislocation slip plane.
