Characterization of LoRa Point-to-Point Path Loss: Measurement Campaigns and Modeling Considering Censored Data
TL;DR: The packet error ratio is determined based on the estimated PL parameters to evaluate the performance of P2P links, and despite the unfavorable radio propagation in the urban scenario and the densely forested terrain, a maximum range of 1 km is achieved.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Art of Designing Remote IoT Devices—Technologies and Strategies for a Long Battery Life
Gilles Callebaut,Guus Leenders,Jarne Van Mulders,Geoffrey Ottoy,Lieven De Strycker,Liesbet Van der Perre +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the challenges posed by combining low-power and long-range connectivity are discussed, and the landscape of available networking technologies that are suited to connect remote IoT nodes is sketched.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Cross-layer framework and optimization for efficient use of the energy budget of IoT Nodes
TL;DR: An open-source cross-layer assessment framework for Low Power Wide Area networks (LPWANs) is presented, which extends the state-of-the-art with energy models, downlink messages, and adaptive datarate features and demonstrates that a cross- layer is imperative to effectively realize LPWans in terms of energy efficiency and throughput.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Deployable LPWAN Platform for Low-Cost and Energy-Constrained IoT Applications.
TL;DR: The design, realization and validation of an open-source lpwan versatile platform that allows entry-level prototyping, while featuring an ultra-low sleep power of 25.2 μW makes l pwan sensor applications accessible in domains that would otherwise require custom hardware development.
Proceedings ArticleDOI
Cross-Layer Framework and Optimization for Efficient Use of the Energy Budget of IoT Nodes
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an open-source cross-layer assessment framework for Low Power Wide Area networks (LPWANs) with energy models, downlink messages, and adaptive datarate features.
