Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of successful transsphenoidal surgery on cardiovascular risk factors in acromegaly
Marie Lise Jaffrain-Rea,Giuseppe Minniti,C. Moroni,Vincenzo Esposito,Elisabetta Ferretti,Antonio Santoro,T. Infusino,Guido Tamburrano,Giampaolo Cantore,R. Cassone +9 more
TL;DR: This study suggests a direct link between insulin resistance and acromegalic cardiomyopathy, and successful surgery in patients with acromegaly induces a significant improvement in haemodynamic and metabolic risk factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Radiotherapy for nonfunctioning pituitary adenomas: from conventional to modern stereotactic radiation techniques
Giuseppe Minniti,Marie Lise Jaffrain-Rea,Mattia Falchetto Osti,Giampaolo Cantore,Riccardo Maurizi Enrici +4 more
TL;DR: A review of the literature suggests that new radiation techniques offer safe and effective treatment for recurrent or residual pituitary adenomas; however longer follow-up is necessary to confirm the excellent tumour control and the potential reduction of long-term radiation toxicity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evolving criteria for post-operative biochemical remission of acromegaly: can we achieve a definitive cure? An audit of surgical results on a large series and a review of the literature.
Giuseppe Minniti,Marie Lise Jaffrain-Rea,Vincenzo Esposito,Antonio Santoro,Guido Tamburrano,G. P. Cantore +5 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that TSS is able to achieve a biochemical remission in more than half of acromegalic patients, and that the current criteria for remission seem to indicate a cure in most cases.
Journal ArticleDOI
Standard (60 Gy) or short-course (40 Gy) irradiation plus concomitant and adjuvant temozolomide for elderly patients with glioblastoma: a propensity-matched analysis.
Giuseppe Minniti,Claudia Scaringi,Gaetano Lanzetta,Irene Terrenato,Vincenzo Esposito,Antonella Arcella,Andrea Pace,Felice Giangaspero,Alessandro Bozzao,Riccardo Maurizi Enrici +9 more
TL;DR: In older adults with GBM, survival outcomes of standard and short-course RT-TMZ were similar, suggesting an abbreviated course of RT plus TMZ may represent a reasonable therapeutic approach for these patients, without loss of survival benefit and acceptable toxicity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fractionated stereotactic conformal radiotherapy for large benign skull base meningiomas
Giuseppe Minniti,Enrico Clarke,Luigi Cavallo,Mattia Falchetto Osti,Vincenzo Esposito,Gianpaolo Cantore,Paolo Cappabianca,Riccardo Maurizi Enrici +7 more
TL;DR: FSRT as a high-precision technique of localized RT is suitable for the treatment of large skull base meningiomas and the local control is comparable to that reported following conventional external beam RT.
