Discrete element modelling of cyclic loads of geogrid-reinforced ballast under confined and unconfined conditions

TL;DR: In this paper, the discrete element method has been used to simulate cyclic loading of geogrid-reinforced ballast under confined and unconfined conditions, and it was found that the optimum location of geoglrid is 100mm depth from base.
Journal ArticleDOI

Investigating geogrid-reinforced ballast: Experimental pull-out tests and discrete element modelling

TL;DR: In this paper, an evaluation of the interlocking behaviour of geogrid-reinforced railway ballast is presented, where four different shapes of clumps are used to represent each ballast particle in order to obtain an acceptable shape for modelling the railway ballasting.
