Palmaz stent in atherosclerotic stenoses involving the ostia of the renal arteries: preliminary report of a multicenter study.
Chet R. Rees,Chet R. Rees,Julio C. Palmaz,Gary J. Becker,Karen O. Ehrman,Goetz M. Richter,G. Noeldge,Barry T. Katzen,Michael D. Dake,Donald E. Schwarten +9 more
TL;DR: Palmaz balloon-expandable stents were placed in 28 hypertensive patients with atherosclerosis involving the ostia of the renal arteries in this paper to treat elastic recoil immediately after conventional angioplasty.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transjugular intrahepatic portacaval stent shunt: Preliminary clinical results
Goetz M. Richter,G. Noeldge,Julio C. Palmaz,Martin Roessle,Volker Slegerstetter,Martina Franke,Wolfgang Gerok,W. Wenz,Edward Farthman +8 more
TL;DR: Two of three patients with life-threatening variceal bleeding and Child C liver cirrhosis and one patient in severe hepatorenal failure prior to the procedure died 11 days after the shunt procedure of pulmonary complications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Placement of balloon-expandable intraluminal stents in iliac arteries: first 171 procedures.
Julio C. Palmaz,O. Garcia,Richard A. Schatz,Chet R. Rees,Roeren T,Goetz M. Richter,G. Noeldge,Geoffrey A. Gardiner,Gary J. Becker,Craig M. Walker,Jody Stagg,Barry T. Katzen,Michael D. Dake,Rosa Maria Paolini,Gordon K. McLean,Johannes Lammer,Donald E. Schwarten,Fermin O. Tio,Harlan D. Root,Waid Rogers +19 more
TL;DR: Balloon-expandable intraluminal stents were used to treat iliac artery stenoses or occlusions that failed to respond to conventional balloon angioplasty and have remained patent to the latest follow-up examination without evidence of migration or aneurysm formation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic stent shunt versus sclerotherapy plus propranolol for variceal rebleeding
TL;DR: Although TIPS significantly reduced the rate of rebleeding, survival rates were not improved and the procedure cannot be recommended for elective treatment after the first variceal bleeding episode, but it is an effective therapy in patients in whom endoscopic sclerotherapy fails to control bleeding.
Journal Article
[The transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic stent-shunt. A new nonsurgical percutaneous method].
TL;DR: In a 49-year-old male patient suffering from severe symptoms of end-stage portal hypertension and Child's stage C metabolic status, an intrahepatic stent-assisted portosystemic shunt was established for the first time exclusively by means of interventional radiology.
