Journal ArticleDOI
Review and Techno-Economic Analysis of Emerging Thermo-Mechanical Energy Storage Technologies
TL;DR: In this article , the authors present a concise review of emerging thermo-mechanical energy storage solutions focusing on their commercial development, quantifying the challenges and assessing each technology's potential for commercial viability.
Book ChapterDOI
Infrastructure Estimates for a Highly Renewable Global Electricity Grid
Magnus Dahl,Rolando A. Rodriguez,Anders A. Søndergaard,Timo Zeyer,Gorm Bruun Andresen,Martin Greiner +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provided quantitative estimates for the benefits and costs of an intercontinental HVDC grid connecting a number of highly populated super regions in the Northern Hemisphere, and compared the economical benefits to the additional cost of intercontinental transmission lines.
Journal ArticleDOI
Magnetic multipole induced zero-rotation frequency bounce-resonant loss in a Penning-Malmberg trap used for antihydrogen trapping

Seif El Nasr,D. M. Silveira,James William Storey,Robert Thompson,D. P. van der Werf,Jonathan Wurtele,Yasunori Yamazaki +34 more
TL;DR: In this article, experiments and simulations show that many antiprotons (over 30% in some cases) can be lost to a hitherto unidentified bounce-resonant process when Ω r is close to zero.

Estimating country-specific space heating threshold temperatures from national consumption data
TL;DR: In this paper, the Akaike's Information Criteria is used to define the summer season in each country, when space heating is not required, and the threshold temperatures for gas heating center around 15.0 +/- 1.7 degree C (daily averaged temperature), while heating by electricity averages to 13.4 +/- 2.4 degree C.
