A buildup voltage distribution (BVD) algorithm for shape control of smart plate structures

TL;DR: In this article, an approach for the determination of voltage distribution in the application to shape control of smart structures using piezoelectric actuators is presented, which is based on an iterative approach inspired by a combination of existing iterative techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimum design of frames with multiple constraints using an evolutionary method

TL;DR: In this article, a simple evolutionary method for the optimum design of structures with stress, stiffness and stability constraints is presented, based on the concept of slowly removing the inefficient material and/or gradually shifting the material from the strongest part of the structure to the weakest part until the structure evolves towards the desired optimum.
Journal ArticleDOI

A performance index for topology and shape optimization of plate bending problems with displacement constraints

TL;DR: In this article, a performance index for topology and shape optimization of plate bending problems with displacement constraints is developed based on the scaling design approach, which is used in the Performance-Based Optimization (PBO) method for plates in bending to keep track of the performance history when inefficient material is gradually removed from the design and to identify optimal topologies and shapes from the optimization process.
