Time of sowing and the presence of a cover-crop determine the productivity and persistence of perennial pastures in mixed farming systems
Guangdi Li,Guangdi Li,Richard Hayes,Richard Hayes,Jeffrey McCormick,Matthew Gardner,Graeme A. Sandral,Graeme A. Sandral,Brian Dear,Brian Dear +9 more
TL;DR: It was showed that pastures sown without a cover-crop had the most reliable establishment, whereas pasture sown with a cover -crop in a dry year had poor establishment or total failure, as well as a significant reduction of grain yield from the cover- crop.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effects of defoliation on plant community, root biomass and nutrient allocation and soil chemical properties on semi-arid steppes in northern China
TL;DR: A defoliation experiment was conducted on a Leymus chinensis -dominated semi-arid steppe to provide guidelines of grazing management and favor long-term restoration of degraded grasslands, suggesting that soil chemical properties might have a greater tolerance to short-term heavydefoliation compared to plant community.
Journal ArticleDOI
Phalaris persistence under rotational grazing on a highly acidic soil on the south-west slopes of New South Wales
TL;DR: In this paper, a long-term management of soil acidity should aim to eliminate the exchangeable aluminium from the soil profile by maintaining a high pHCa (5.5 or above) in the 0-10 cm soil depth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antifungal activity of spider venom-derived peptide lycosin-I against Candida tropicalis.
Li Tan,Le Bai,Ling Wang,Lagu He,Guangdi Li,Wenhan Du,Ting Shen,Zheyi Xiang,Jiali Wu,Zhonghua Liu,Min Hu +10 more
TL;DR: Lycosin-I, a peptide isolated from venom of the spider Lycosa singoriensis, acted as a potent antifungal inhibitor against Candida species and was shown to be localized in the cytoplasm after its transportation across the cell wall and membrane.
