What are the important technologies for bin picking? Technology analysis of robots in competitions based on a set of performance metrics

TL;DR: This paper proposes a set of performance metrics selected in terms of actual field use as a solution to clarify the important technologies in bin picking and uses the selected metrics to compare the four original robot systems, which achieved the best performance in the Stow task of the Amazon Robotics Challenge 2017.
Journal ArticleDOI

System for augmented human–robot interaction through mixed reality and robot training by non-experts in customer service environments

TL;DR: A complete robot system that has been given the highest evaluation score at the Customer Interaction Task of the Future Convenience Store Challenge at the World Robot Summit 2018 is presented, which implements several key technologies including a hierarchical spatial concepts formation for general robot task planning and a mixed reality interface to enable users to intuitively visualize the current state of the robot perception and naturally interact with it.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluating quality in human-robot interaction: A systematic search and classification of performance and human-centered factors, measures and metrics towards an industry 5.0

TL;DR: A literature review of the different aspects concerning the problem of quality measurement in Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) applications for manufacturing environments is presented in this article , where authors present an overview of factors, metrics, and measures used in the robotics community to evaluate performance and human well-being quality aspects in HRI applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

Restock and straightening system for retail automation using compliant and mobile manipulation

TL;DR: The proposed mobile manipulator features a custom-made end effector with compact and compliant design to safely and effectively manipulate products in retail stores to restock shelves, dispose expired products, and straighten products in Retail environments.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Alignment of Occupancy Grid and Floor Maps Using Graph Matching

TL;DR: This paper proposes a method using graph matching to align a floor map with an occupancy grid map generated by SLAM, and verified that this method can perform a gross alignment of the maps in an actual situation.
