Physiological and genetic mechanisms underlying caste development, reproduction and division of labor in stingless bees
Klaus Hartfelder,Gustavo R. Makert,Carla C. Judice,Gonçalo A.G. Pereira,Weyder Cristiano Santana,Rodrigo Pires Dallacqua,Márcia Maria Gentile Bitondi +6 more
TL;DR: Cette observation a conduit a emettre l'hypothese que la determination des castes chez Melipona a peut-etre une base genetique ne concordent pas necessairement.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ovariole number?a predictor of differential reproductive success among worker subfamilies in queenless honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) colonies
TL;DR: A frequency-dependent or “rare patriline” advantage to queenless workers over the parentage of males is hypothesized, and the maintenance of genetic variance in the reproductive capacity of workers is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Selection and Validation of siRNAs Preventing Uptake and Replication of SARS-CoV-2
Maik Friedrich,Gabriele Pfeifer,Stefan Binder,Achim Aigner,Philippe Vollmer Barbosa,Gustavo R. Makert,Jasmin Fertey,Sebastian Ulbert,Jochen Bodem,Eva-Maria König,Nina Geiger,Axel Schambach,Erik Schilling,Tilo Buschmann,Sunna Hauschildt,Ulrike Koehl,Katherina Sewald +16 more
TL;DR: Results identify the direct targeting of the viral RNA genome (ORF1a/b) by siRNAs as highly efficient and introduce siV1 as a particularly promising drug candidate for therapeutic intervention.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Analysis of beekeeping practice in Syria for the development of a country wide breeding program and the effect of group size on the mandibular gland secretions of honeybee workers.
Journal ArticleDOI
An optimized method for the generation of AFLP markers in a stingless bee (Melipona quadrifasciata) reveals a high degree of intracolonial genetic polymorphism
TL;DR: An optimized protocol for the generation of Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP) markers in a stingless bee is described, finding that the observed rates of within-colony polymorphism are remarkably high, considering that the workers of each colony were all offspring of a singly mated queen.
