Journal ArticleDOI
Palaeodrainage evolution of the large rivers of East Asia, and Himalayan-Tibet tectonics
Peng Zhang,Peng Zhang,Yanina Manya Rachel Najman,Lianfu Mei,Ian L. Millar,Edward R. Sobel,Andrew Carter,Dan N. Barfod,Bruno Dhuime,Eduardo Garzanti,Gwladys Govin,Giovanni Vezzoli,Xiaolin Hu +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors have assessed the evidence that the Yarlung originally flowed into the palaeo-Red river, and then sequentially into the Irrawaddy and Brahmaputra, connecting to the latter first via the Lohit and then the Siang.
Journal ArticleDOI
Timing and mechanism of the rise of the Shillong Plateau in the Himalayan foreland
Gwladys Govin,Yani Najman,Alex Copley,Ian L. Millar,P. van der Beek,Pascale Huyghe,Djordje Grujic,J. D. Davenport +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that amphibole fractionation in basaltic andesites on Batan Island (Philippines) led to the crystallization of amphibole (± plagioclase) followed by gabbroic fractionation at ∼7 km depth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Late Miocene‐Pleistocene evolution of India‐Eurasia convergence partitioning between the Bhutan Himalaya and the Shillong Plateau: New evidences from foreland basin deposits along the Dungsam Chu section, eastern Bhutan
Isabelle Coutand,Laurie Barrier,Gwladys Govin,Djordje Grujic,Carina Hoorn,Guillaume Dupont-Nivet,Yanina Manya Rachel Najman +6 more
TL;DR: The Shillong Plateau is a unique basement-cored uplift in the foreland of the eastern Himalaya that accommodates part of the India-Eurasia convergence since the late Miocene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lateral variations in vegetation in the Himalaya since the Miocene and implications for climate evolution
Natalie Vogeli,Yanina Manya Rachel Najman,Peter van der Beek,Pascale Huyghe,Peter M. Wynn,Gwladys Govin,Iris van der Veen,Dirk Sachse +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed δ13Cδ13Oδ18O values of soil carbonate and associated values of bulk organic carbon from previously dated sedimentary sections exposing the synorogenic detrital Dharamsala and Siwalik Groups in the west, and, for the first time, the Siwaliik Group in the east of the Himalayan foreland basin.
Journal ArticleDOI
The exhumation of the Indo-Burman Ranges, Myanmar
Yani Najman,Edward R. Sobel,Ian L. Millar,Daniel F. Stockli,Gwladys Govin,Frank Lisker,Eduardo Garzanti,Mara Limonta,Giovanni Vezzoli,Alex Copley,Peng Zhang,E. Szymanski,Alicia Kahn +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the first low-temperature thermochronological age elevation profiles of the Indo-Burman Ranges (IBR) using ZFT, AFT and ZHe techniques.
