Journal ArticleDOI

Palaeodrainage evolution of the large rivers of East Asia, and Himalayan-Tibet tectonics

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors have assessed the evidence that the Yarlung originally flowed into the palaeo-Red river, and then sequentially into the Irrawaddy and Brahmaputra, connecting to the latter first via the Lohit and then the Siang.
Journal ArticleDOI

Timing and mechanism of the rise of the Shillong Plateau in the Himalayan foreland

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that amphibole fractionation in basaltic andesites on Batan Island (Philippines) led to the crystallization of amphibole (± plagioclase) followed by gabbroic fractionation at ∼7 km depth.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lateral variations in vegetation in the Himalaya since the Miocene and implications for climate evolution

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed δ13Cδ13Oδ18O values of soil carbonate and associated values of bulk organic carbon from previously dated sedimentary sections exposing the synorogenic detrital Dharamsala and Siwalik Groups in the west, and, for the first time, the Siwaliik Group in the east of the Himalayan foreland basin.
