TL;DR: In this article, Monte Carlo simulations of the Clear-PEM scanner acquisitions were used as input for image reconstruction with the 3D OSEM algorithm available in STIR, and results indicated that dual plate PEM data can be accurately reconstructed using the enhanced STIR framework.

TL;DR: The results presented indicate that the use of the maximum a posteriori algorithm and the median root prior lead to a clear reduction in the noise of the images, without a significant loss of image spatial resolution or decrease in contrast.
