Asteroseismology of old open clusters with Kepler: direct estimate of the integrated RGB mass loss in NGC6791 and NGC6819
Andrea Miglio,K. Brogaard,D. Stello,William J. Chaplin,F. D'Antona,Josefina Montalbán,S. Basu,Alessandro Bressan,Frank Grundahl,Marc H. Pinsonneault,A. M. Serenelli,Yvonne Elsworth,S. Hekker,T. Kallinger,B. Mosser,Paolo Ventura,Alfio Bonanno,Arlette Noels,V. Silva-Aguirre,Róbert Szabó,Jie Li,S. McCauliff,Christopher K. Middour,H. Kjeldsen +23 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the masses of 40 stars on the RGB and 19 in the RC of the old metal-rich cluster NGC6791 and NGC6819 and found that the difference between the average mass of RGB and RC stars is small, but significant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preparation of Kepler lightcurves for asteroseismic analyses
R. A. Garcia,S. Hekker,D. Stello,Juan Gutiérrez-Soto,Rasmus Handberg,Daniel Huber,Christoffer Karoff,K. Uytterhoeven,T. Appourchaux,William J. Chaplin,Yvonne Elsworth,Savita Mathur,J. Ballot,J. Christensen-Dalsgaard,R. L. Gilliland,G. Houdek,J. M. Jenkins,H. Kjeldsen,S. McCauliff,T. S. Metcalfe,Christopher K. Middour,J. Molenda-Zakowicz,Mário J. P. F. G. Monteiro,Jeffrey C. Smith,Michael Thompson +24 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe processing procedures developed by the Kepler Asteroseismic Science Consortium (KASC) to prepare light curves that are optimized for the solar-like oscillating stars in which outliers, jumps and drifts are corrected.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fundamental Properties of Stars using Asteroseismology from Kepler & CoRoT and Interferometry from the CHARA Array
Daniel Huber,Michael Ireland,T. R. Bedding,I. M. Brandão,L. Piau,Vicente Maestro,Timothy R. White,H. Bruntt,Luca Casagrande,Joanna Molenda-Żakowicz,V. Silva Aguirre,S. G. Sousa,Thomas Barclay,Christopher J. Burke,William J. Chaplin,J. Christensen-Dalsgaard,M. S. Cunha,J. De Ridder,Chris Farrington,Antonio Frasca,R. A. Garcia,R. L. Gilliland,P. J. Goldfinger,S. Hekker,Steven D. Kawaler,H. Kjeldsen,H. A. McAlister,T. S. Metcalfe,Andrea Miglio,Mário J. P. F. G. Monteiro,Marc H. Pinsonneault,Gail Schaefer,D. Stello,Martin C. Stumpe,J. Sturmann,L. Sturmann,T. ten Brummelaar,Michael Thompson,Neal J. Turner,K. Uytterhoeven +39 more
TL;DR: In this article, a long-baseline interferometry campaign using the PAVO beam combiner at the CHARA Array was used to measure the angular sizes of five main-sequence stars, one subgiant and four red giant stars for which solar-like oscillations have been detected by either Kepler or CoRoT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Asteroseismology of red giants from the first four months of Kepler data: Fundamental parameters
T. Kallinger,B. Mosser,S. Hekker,Daniel Huber,D. Stello,S. Mathur,S. Basu,T. R. Bedding,William J. Chaplin,J. De Ridder,Yvonne Elsworth,S. Frandsen,R. A. Garcia,M. Gruberbauer,J. M. Matthews,William J. Borucki,H. Bruntt,J. Christensen-Dalsgaard,R. L. Gilliland,H. Kjeldsen,David G. Koch +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a global model was proposed to estimate the granulation background signal and the global oscillation parameters, such as the frequency of maximum oscillation power, for a large sample of red giants and determine their asteroseismic fundamental parameters.
Journal ArticleDOI

Stello,J. Christensen-Dalsgaard,S. D. Kawaler,H. Kjeldsen,Robert L. Morris,Elisa V. Quintana,D. T. Sanderfer +31 more
TL;DR: A detailed spectroscopic study of 93 solar-type stars that were targets of the NASA/Kepler mission and provided detailed chemical composition of each target is presented in this paper.
