Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of endothelial nitric oxide synthase on the hemodynamics and wall mechanics in murine arteriovenous fistulas.
Daniel B. Pike,Yan-Ting Shiu,Yan-Ting Shiu,Yun-Fang Cho,Ha Le,Maheshika Somarathna,Tatyana Isayeva,Lingling Guo,J. David Symons,Christopher G. Kevil,John Totenhagen,Timmy Lee,Timmy Lee +12 more
TL;DR: The first MRI-based fluid-structure interaction study in a murine AVF model using three mouse strains shows that overexpression of NOS3 resulted in distinct hemodynamic and wall mechanical profiles associated with favorable AVF remodeling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of Preexisting Arterial Intimal Hyperplasia with Arteriovenous Fistula Outcomes.
Michael Allon,Silvio H. Litovsky,Yingying Zhang,Ha Le,Alfred K. Cheung,Alfred K. Cheung,Alfred K. Cheung,Yan-Ting Shiu +7 more
TL;DR: Preexisting arterial intimal hyperplasia is not associated with the 6-week AVF blood flow, diameter or stenosis, or clinical maturation when the preoperative arterial diameter is ≥2 mm, and there was no significant interaction with other vascular pathologies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Medical Image-Based Computational Fluid Dynamics and Fluid-Structure Interaction Analysis in Vascular Diseases
TL;DR: This review describes the multiple steps and recent advances in a typical patient-specific simulation pipeline, including medical imaging, image processing, spatial discretization to generate computational mesh, setting up boundary conditions and solver parameters, visualization and extraction of hemodynamic factors, and statistical analysis.
