Journal ArticleDOI
Pirenzepine distinguishes between different subclasses of muscarinic receptors
TL;DR: Binding studies using a new anti-muscarinic drug, pirenzepine, are used, in which heterogeneity of binding is found that correlates well with the pharmacological activity and cannot be taken as evidence for different receptor subtypes.
Journal Article
Pirenzepine--a ligand with original binding properties to muscarinic receptors.
TL;DR: Evidence suggests that the unusual receptor binding properties of pirenzepine may make its selective antimuscarinic action possible.
Journal Article
Muscarinic receptor subclasses: evidence from binding studies.

“Binding States” of Muscarinic Receptors
N.J.M. Birdsall,Christopher P. Berrie,Arnold S. V. Burgen,Hammer R,Edward C. Hulme,J. M. Stockton +5 more
TL;DR: An examination of the binding of antagonists to the receptors in rat cerebral cortex has shown that this occurs to an apparently uniform set of sites, in close agreement with those estimated by antagonism of the contraction of the longitudinal smooth muscle of guinea pig ileum.
