TL;DR: In this paper, the reformatzky reaction with ketonitrones was used to transform the konitrones into the 5-isoxazolidinones 3a-c by reformatisation with ethyl bromoacetate and zinc in boiling tetrahydrofuran, and the free enthalpy of activation is 14.7 Kcal/mol (61 600 J/mol).
