TL;DR: Adolescents with MDD were found to have severe difficulties in all areas and adolescents with difficulties in parent-child relations were more likely than those adolescents without problems in family relations to have difficulties in peer relations and school performance.

TL;DR: The concurrent validity of the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) was evaluated in 122 outpatient adolescents referred to a clinic for depression and correlated significantly with the 17-item depression score in depressed females but not depressed males.

Gender differences in adolescent depression: do symptoms differ for boys and girls?
TL;DR: Findings indicate that the experience of depression is highly similar for adolescent girls and boys, however, some gender differences previously found among depressed adults appear to be present by adolescence, possibly suggesting somewhat distinct etiologies for depression among males and females.
