Journal ArticleDOI

Larval biology of anthophagous Eumaeini (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae, Theclinae) in the cerrado of central Brazil.

TL;DR: The biology and morphology of the early stages of 22 species of Eumaeini (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae, Theclinae) are presented and Paiwarria aphaca (Hewitson) was highlighted because of the great difference observed between its first and last instars, as well as the marked difference between that species and the larvae of Paiwarrian umbratus (Geyer) documented in Costa Rica.
Journal ArticleDOI

Seasonal and diel variations in the activity of canopy insect herbivores differ between deciduous and evergreen plant species in a tropical dry forest

TL;DR: The results indicate that the strategies used by Insect herbivores to withstand the severe climatic conditions of TDFs during the dry season include both small-scale escape in space and time, with evergreen trees playing a key role in maintaining resident insect herbivore populations in T DFs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Padrão de oviposição e tabela de vida da traça-do-tomateiro Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera, Gelechiidae)

TL;DR: The difference in the oviposition pattern observed in the field is not related to the progeny performance and can be influenced by the environment of organic tomato crop system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Climate and host plant characteristics effects on lepidopteran caterpillar abundance on Miconia ferruginata DC. and Miconia pohliana Cogn (Melastomataceae)

TL;DR: Low caterpillar frequency in host plants and an abundance peak during the dry season are consistent patterns for different cerrado Lepidoptera larvae, however, this abundance peak is not coincident with higher leaf production in host species.
Journal ArticleDOI

A lagarta de Cerconota achatina (Zeller) (Lepidoptera, Oecophoridae, Stenomatinae): biologia e ocorrência em plantas hospedeiras do gênero Byrsonima Rich (Malpighiaceae)

TL;DR: Caterpillars of all size were found in every month of the year which suggest ovelapping generations and multivoltinism and 75% of them were found on host-plants on wich less than 25% of leaves were young.
