Sex Differences in the Gut Microbiota as Potential Determinants of Gender Predisposition to Disease.
Jose A. Santos-Marcos,Jose A. Santos-Marcos,Carmen Haro,Carmen Haro,Ana Vega-Rojas,Ana Vega-Rojas,Juan F. Alcala-Diaz,Juan F. Alcala-Diaz,Helena Molina-Abril,Ana Leon-Acuña,Ana Leon-Acuña,Javier Lopez-Moreno,Javier Lopez-Moreno,Blanca B. Landa,Manuel Tena-Sempere,Pablo Perez-Martinez,Pablo Perez-Martinez,Jose Lopez-Miranda,Jose Lopez-Miranda,Francisco Pérez-Jiménez,Francisco Pérez-Jiménez,Antonio Camargo,Antonio Camargo +22 more
TL;DR: The results suggest the potential involvement of differences in gut microbiota in the unequal incidence of metabolic diseases between genders, and a sex-dependent effect on shaping the gut microbiota according to diet.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ordovas,Pablo Perez-Martinez,Pablo Perez-Martinez,Pablo Perez-Martinez,Antonio Camargo,Antonio Camargo,Antonio Camargo,Jose Lopez-Miranda,Jose Lopez-Miranda,Jose Lopez-Miranda +31 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that circulating miRNAs could potentially be used as a new tool for predicting the development of type 2 diabetes in clinical practice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Learning Biomarker Models for Progression Estimation of Alzheimer’s Disease
Alexander Schmidt-Richberg,Christian Ledig,Ricardo Guerrero,Helena Molina-Abril,Alejandro F. Frangi,Daniel Rueckert +5 more
TL;DR: Three possible applications for progress estimation are demonstrated to underline the versatility of the approach: classification, construction of a spatio-temporal disease progression atlas and prediction of future disease progression.
Book ChapterDOI
Integral Operators for Computing Homology Generators at Any Dimension
TL;DR: This paper develops a process to drastically reduce the amount of data that represent the original object, with the purpose of a subsequent homology computation.
Book ChapterDOI
Multi-stage Biomarker Models for Progression Estimation in Alzheimer's Disease.
Alexander Schmidt-Richberg,Ricardo Guerrero,Christian Ledig,Helena Molina-Abril,Alejandro F. Frangi,Daniel Rueckert +5 more
TL;DR: A probabilistic approach is derived to estimate the current disease progress and the disease progression rate of a given individual by fitting any acquired biomarkers to these models, applicable even if individual biomarker measurements are missing for the subject.
