Journal ArticleDOI

The contribution of radar interferometry to the assessment of landslide hazards

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used repeat pass radar images (InSAR) for landslide detection and risk assessment in a mountain village and a mass waste above an alpine traffic route.
Journal ArticleDOI

The imbalance of glaciers after disintegration of Larsen-B ice shelf, Antarctic Peninsula

TL;DR: In this paper, high-resolution radar images of the TerraSAR-X satellite, launched in June 2007, were analyzed to map the motion of outlet glaciers in detail and the frontal velocities were used to estimate the calving fluxes for 2008/2009.
Journal ArticleDOI

Assimilation of meteorological and remote sensing data for snowmelt runoff forecasting

TL;DR: In this article, a data assimilation scheme for remote sensing snow cover products and meteorological data was developed, aimed at operational use for short-term runoff forecasting, which is particularly important for water management tasks, because meteorological forecasts are the main error source for runoff prediction, as confirmed by simulation studies with modified input data from various sources.
Journal ArticleDOI

Advances in interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) in earth system science

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an overview of recent developments in InSAR applications, with emphasis on the use of satellite-borne sensors for applications in geoscience, topographic mapping, natural hazard monitoring and environmental research.
Journal ArticleDOI

Glaciar Perito Moreno, Patagonia: climate sensitivities and glacier characteristics preceding the 2003/04 and 2005/06 damming events

TL;DR: The mass balance and climate sensitivity of Perito Moreno (GPM), one of the main outlet glaciers of Hielo Patagonico Sur (southern Patagonia icefield), were investigated in this paper.
