Reaction-induced phase separation mechanisms in modified thermosets.
E. Girard-Reydet,Henry Sautereau,Jean-Pierre Pascault,P.A. Keates,Patrick Navard,Gilbert Thollet,Gérard Vigier +6 more
TL;DR: The phase separation mechanisms involved were found to be greatly dependent on the initial modifier concentration and on the ratio of the phase separation rate with respect to the polymerization rate, and phase separation proceeded by spinodal demixing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polyetherimide-modified epoxy networks: Influence of cure conditions on morphology and mechanical properties
TL;DR: In this article, the morphologies and mechanical properties of thermoplastic-modified epoxy networks generated through the reaction-induced phase separation procedure were studied as a function of isothermal cure conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Epoxy-Aromatic Diamine Kinetics. Part 1. Modeling and Influence of the Diamine Structure
TL;DR: In this article, the reactivities of different aromatic diamines, i.e. 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl sulfone (DDS), MDA, 4, 4'-methylenedianiline (MDA), and MCDEA, cured with an epoxy prepolymer, were compared and correlated to their chemical structures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Short palm tree fibers – Thermoset matrices composites
Hamid Kaddami,Alain Dufresne,Bertine Khelifi,Abdelkader Bendahou,Moha Taourirte,Mustapha Raihane,Nathalie Issartel,Henry Sautereau,Jean-François Gérard,Noureddine Sami +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the use of short palm tree lignocellulosic fibers as a reinforcing phase in polyester and epoxy matrices has been reported, and the morphology and the mechanical properties of the resulting composites were characterized using scanning electron microscopy analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, dynamical mechanical analysis and three-point bending tests.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of chain flexibility and crosslink density on mechanical properties of epoxy/amine networks
Eliane Urbaczewski-Espuche,Jocelyne Galy,Jean-François Gérard,Jean-Pierre Pascault,Henry Sautereau +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, a linear relationship was established between pre-plastic activation volume and crosslink density at temperatures lower than the activation of molecular chain motions responsible for the sub-Tg relaxations.
