Tubular heater for use in an electrical smoking article

TL;DR: In this article, a cylindrical tube (300) is provided of a mechanically strong and flexible electrical conductor such as a metal and has a plurality of separated regions, and an electrically insulating layer (310) is applied on the outer surface except for one exposed portion (110).
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of pores and interfaces on effective properties of plasma sprayed zirconia coatings

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of splat interfaces on the effective thermal conductivity and elastic modulus along the spray, as well as the transverse directions are estimated for thermally sprayed yttria-stabilized zirconia (PSZ) coatings.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thermal Spray: Current Status and Future Trends

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a continuous, directed, melt-spray process in which particles (e.g., 1-50 μm in diameter) of virtually any material are melted and accelerated to high velocities, through either a combustion flame or a dc or rf nontransferred thermal-plasma arc.
Journal ArticleDOI

Application of image analysis for characterization of porosity in thermal spray coatings and correlation with small angle neutron scattering

TL;DR: In this paper, an image analysis (IA) method was used for characterization of porosity in thermally sprayed coatings and the results were complemented with the microstructural information obtained using advanced characterization techniques, such as small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) and computer micro-tomography (CMT) carried out on similar coatings.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comprehensive microstructural characterization and predictive property modeling of plasma-sprayed zirconia coatings

TL;DR: In this paper, microstructure parameters determined by SANS studies are then assembled into a preliminary model to develop a predictive capability for estimating the properties of these coatings, and thermal conductivity and elastic modulus were predicted using finite element analysis and ultimately compared to experimental values.
