Journal ArticleDOI

Scoring of radiographic progression in randomised clinical trials in ankylosing spondylitis: a preference for paired reading order

TL;DR: Reading with chronological time order is more sensitive to change than reading with paired time order, but paired reading is sufficiently sensitive to pick up change with a follow up of 2 years, resulting in an acceptable sample size for RCTs.
Journal Article

Enrichment of T cells carrying beta7 integrins in inflamed synovial tissue from patients with early spondyloarthropathy, compared to rheumatoid arthritis

TL;DR: Increased expression of beta7 integrins was noted on synovial T cell lines from SpA compared to RA, with discriminative correlations between alpha4beta7 and alphaEbeta7, which suggests a different origin of the synovials T cells in these diseases.
Journal Article

Treatment of refractory inflammatory monoarthritis in ankylosing spondylitis by intraarticular injection of infliximab

TL;DR: A beneficial effect of IA infliximab in refractory arthritis in patients with ankylosing spondylitis is observed and this procedure could be considered an effective and safe treatment for therapy ofRefractory monoarthritis in AS and an alternative for parenteral TNF-blocking therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spinal radiographic changes in ankylosing spondylitis: association with clinical characteristics and functional outcome.

TL;DR: Radiographic spinal changes in patients with ankylosing spondylitis are seen more often in men and those with hip involvement and BASFI status indicates the influence of radiographic changes and hip involvement, but does not reflect the presence of peripheral arthritis and does not differ between men and women.
Journal Article

A prospective study of patients with spondyloarthropathy with special reference to HLA-B27 and to gut histology.

TL;DR: It was found that the HLA-B27+ patients were more severely affected since they presented more severe radiological involvement of the sacroiliac joints, and Crohn-like inflammatory gut lesions were more frequently seen on ileocolonoscopy.
