Journal ArticleDOI

A prospective, randomized, controlled trial of robot-assisted vs freehand pedicle screw fixation in spine surgery.

TL;DR: The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy and safety of an instrumented posterior lumbar interbody fusion using a robot‐assisted minimally invasive (Robot‐PLIF) or a conventional open approach (Freehand‐ PLIF).
Journal ArticleDOI

The comparison of pedicle screw and cortical screw in posterior lumbar interbody fusion: a prospective randomized noninferiority trial.

TL;DR: According to the clinical outcome, CS provided similar improvements in pain amelioration and functional status compared to PS, with no significant differences, and CS resulted in significantly less surgical morbidity, including shorter incision length, quicker operative time, and less blood loss, compared toPS.
Journal ArticleDOI

Risk of vertebral artery injury: comparison between C1–C2 transarticular and C2 pedicle screws

TL;DR: The results suggest that the surgeon can opt for either technique and expect similar anatomic risks of vertebral artery injury in an overall patient population and subsets of patients with a high-riding vertebral arteries and a narrow pedicle using computed tomography scan images and 3D screw trajectory software.
Journal ArticleDOI

The biomechanical influence of the facet joint orientation and the facet tropism in the lumbar spine.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the biomechanical influence of the facet orientation and facet tropism (FT) on stress on the corresponding segment and found that the FT model yielded the greatest increase of intradiscal pressure and facet contact force.
Journal ArticleDOI

Monitoring the quality of robot-assisted pedicle screw fixation in the lumbar spine by using a cumulative summation test.

TL;DR: This study demonstrates the adequacy of quality control of robot-assisted pedicle screw fixation even early in the application period based on the CUSUM analysis, and shows it can be a useful tool for monitoring of the quality of procedures related with spine surgery.
