Kelvin Wave-CISK: A Possible Mechanism for the 30–50 Day Oscillations

TL;DR: In this article, a linear theoretical analysis of the equatorial β-plane wave-CISK was carried out with a focus on the Kelvin modes, and it was shown that two types of CISK modes may arise from an interaction of vertical modes.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Sensor grid: integration of wireless sensor networks and the grid

TL;DR: A sensor grid architecture, called the scalable proxy-based architecture for sensor grid (SPRING), is proposed to address design issues and develop a sensor grid testbed to study the design issues of sensor grids and to improve the design architecture design.
Journal ArticleDOI

Application of multitemporal ERS-2 synthetic aperture radar in delineating rice cropping systems in the Mekong River Delta, Vietnam

TL;DR: The authors report the use of multitemporal ERS-2 satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images in delineating and mapping areas under different rice cropping systems in the Mekong River Delta, Vietnam.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

In-network execution of monitoring queries in sensor networks

TL;DR: The proposed Two-Phase Self-Join (TPSJ) scheme takes advantage of the properties of the events and carries out data filtering during in-network processing and is effective in reducing the amount of radio transmissions during event detection.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Theory for Midlatitude Forcing of Tropical Motions during Winter Monsoons

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the dynamic response of the tropical atmosphere to midlatitude pressure surges using the linearized shallow-water equations on an equatorial β plane, where the forcing is specified to have a Gaussian spatial distribution with a zonal scale corresponding to approximately wavenumber 7 and a meridional scale of approximately 11°.
