Journal ArticleDOI
Gene expression signature of cigarette smoking and its role in lung adenocarcinoma development and survival.
Maria Teresa Landi,Tatiana Dracheva,Melissa Rotunno,Jonine D. Figueroa,Huaitian Liu,Abhijit Dasgupta,Felecia E. Mann,Junya Fukuoka,Megan Hames,Andrew W. Bergen,Sharon E. Murphy,Ping Yang,Angela Cecilia Pesatori,Dario Consonni,Pier Alberto Bertazzi,Sholom Wacholder,Joanna H. Shih,Neil E. Caporaso,Jin Jen +18 more
TL;DR: This work provides insight into the smoking-related mechanisms of lung neoplasia, and shows that the very mitotic genes known to be involved in cancer development are induced by smoking and affect survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
CSMD1 Shows Complex Patterns of Somatic Copy Number Alterations and Expressions of mRNAs and Target Micro RNAs in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Nan Hu,Chaoyu Wang,Tongwu Zhang,Hua Su,Huaitian Liu,Howard H. Yang,Carol Giffen,Ying Hu,Philip R. Taylor,Alisa M. Goldstein +9 more
TL;DR: Alterations in some somatic SNPs in non-coding regions of CSMD1 appear to influence expression of this gene and its target miRNAs, which indicates that the CS MD1 gene may play a role in the development of ESCC through complex patterns involving somatic alterations and mRNA expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modified eQTL and Somatic DNA Segment Alterations in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma for Genes Related to Immunity, DNA Repair, and Inflammation
Howard H. Yang,Huaitian Liu,Nan Hu,Hua Su,Chaoyu Wang,Carol Giffen,Alisa M. Goldstein,Philip R. Taylor,Maxwell P. Lee +8 more
TL;DR: An integrated approach to analyze expression, genotyping and somatic DNA alterations to find genetic markers related to esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is applied, suggesting that this strategy could identify gene expression and Somatic DNA segment alterations for biological markers (genes).
Posted ContentDOI
Melanoma clonal subline analysis uncovers heterogeneity-driven immunotherapy resistance mechanisms
Charli Gruen,Howard H. Yang,Antonella Sassano,Emily A. Wu,Vishaka Gopalan,Kerrie L. Marie,Andrea Castro,Farid Rashidi Mehrabadi,Gabriel A. Needle,Cari Smith,Sung Chin,Jessica Ebersole,Christina Marcelus,Anyen Fon,Huaitian Liu,Salem Malikic,Cenk Sahinalp,Sridhar Hannenhalli,Chi-Ping Day,Maxwell P. Lee,G. Merino,Eva Pérez-Guijarro +21 more
TL;DR: In this article , single cell-derived clonal sublines from an ICB-sensitive and genetically and phenotypically heterogeneous mouse melanoma model, M4, were used to study the complex determinants of response to ICB, and specifically the role of melanoma plasticity in immune evasion mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Secretoglobin 3A2 protects lung from developing cigarette smoke-induced pulmonary emphysema.
Reiko Kurotani,Sotaro Ono,Yuki Miyano,Shun Nakayama,Huaitian Liu,Daisuke Aibara,Satoshi Sakahara,Masamichi Sato,Kento Sato,Sumito Inoue,Yoko Shibata,Maxwell P. Lee,Hiroyuki Abe,Shioko Kimura +13 more
TL;DR: In this article , a COPD mouse model was created by exposing Scgb3a2-deficient (KO), Scgb 3a2 -specific overexpressing (TG), and wild type (WT) mice to cigarette smoke (CS) for 6 months.
