Co-exposure to multiple metals, TERT-CLPTM1L variants, and their joint influence on leukocyte telomere length.
Yansen Bai,Wenshan Fu,Xin Guan,Xiulong Wu,Guyanan Li,Wei Wei,Yue Feng,Hua Meng,Hang Li,Mengying Li,Ming Fu,Jiali Jie,Chenming Wang,Xiaomin Zhang,Meian He,Huan Guo +15 more
TL;DR: This study revealed the independent and positive association between plasma Mn and LTL when accounting for co-exposure to other metals and advance the understanding of the complex interplay between genetic and environmental factors on telomere length.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hearing loss is associated with increased stroke risk in the Dongfeng-Tongji Cohort.
Qin Fang,Xuefeng Lai,Liangle Yang,Zhichao Wang,Yue Zhan,Lue Zhou,Yang Xiao,Hao Wang,Dan Li,Kun Zhang,Tao Zhou,Handong Yang,Huan Guo,Meian He,Weijia Kong,Tangchun Wu,Xiaomin Zhang +16 more
TL;DR: A dose-response relationship between hearing loss and stroke risk in middle-aged and older adults is suggested and some high cardiovascular risk participants such as male, age ≥65, exposed to occupational noise, smoker and with diabetes, hypertension or hyperlipidemia had higher risk of stroke.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prenatal Exposure to Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Birth Weight in China
Qiong Chen,Tongzhang Zheng,Bryan A. Bassig,Yibin Cheng,Brian P. Leaderer,Shaobin Lin,Theodore R. Holford,Jie Qiu,Yawei Zhang,Kunchong Shi,Yong Zhu,Jianjun Niu,Yonghong Li,Huan Guo,Xiaobin Hu,Yinlong Jin +15 more
TL;DR: Most of the measured PAHs in maternal serum and three PAHS in cord blood were inversely but non-significantly associated with birth weight, and the strongest associations were observed for higher concentrations of benzo (a) pyrene (BaP) in maternal Serum and cord blood.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metabolic syndrome is associated with hearing loss among a middle-aged and older Chinese population: a cross-sectional study.
Xu Han,Zhichao Wang,Jing Wang,Yaru Li,Hua Hu,Yujuan Hu,Xueyan Zhao,Yue Zhan,Jing Yuan,Sheng Wei,Yuan Liang,Xiaomin Zhang,Huan Guo,Handong Yang,Tangchun Wu,Weijia Kong,Meian He +16 more
TL;DR: The metabolic syndrome, as well as its components central obesity, hyperglycemia, and low HDL-C levels were positively associated with hearing loss.
Journal ArticleDOI
Victims of Chinese famine in early life have increased risk of metabolic syndrome in adulthood
Caizheng Yu,Jing Wang,Fei Wang,Xu Han,Hua Hu,Jing Yuan,Xiaoping Miao,Ping Yao,Sheng Wei,Youjie Wang,Yuan Liang,Xiaomin Zhang,Huan Guo,An Pan,Dan Zheng,Yuhan Tang,Handong Yang,Tangchun Wu,Meian He +18 more
TL;DR: Results in the present study indicated that exposure to famine in early life increases the risk of metabolic syndrome in adulthood, particularly in women.
