Recent advances in hydrothermal carbonisation: from tailored carbon materials and biochemicals to applications and bioenergy
Sabina A. Nicolae,Heather Au,Pierpaolo Modugno,Hui Luo,Anthony E. Szego,Mo Qiao,Liang Li,Wang Yin,Hero J. Heeres,Nicole D. Berge,Maria-Magdalena Titirici,Maria-Magdalena Titirici +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an overview on the latest trends in hydrothermal carbonisation including biomass to bioenergy conversion, upgrading of hydro-thermal carbons to fuels over heterogeneous catalysts, advanced carbon materials and their applications in batteries, electrocatalysis and heterogeneous catalysis and finally an analysis of the chemicals in the liquid phase as well as a new family of fluorescent nanomaterials formed at the interface between the liquid and solid phases.

TL;DR: Carbon dots on photoactive semiconductor nanomaterials have represented an effective strategy for enhancing their photoelectrochemical (PEC) activity as discussed by the authors, by carefully designing and manipulating a carb...
Journal ArticleDOI
Pt single-atoms supported on nitrogen-doped carbon dots for highly efficient photocatalytic hydrogen generation
Hui Luo,Hui Luo,Ying Liu,Stoichko D. Dimitrov,Stoichko D. Dimitrov,Ludmilla Steier,Shaohui Guo,Xuanhua Li,Jingyu Feng,Fei Xie,Fei Xie,Yuanxing Fang,Andrei V. Sapelkin,Xinchen Wang,Maria-Magdalena Titirici +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a photo-deposition process was used to fabricate single-atom catalysts (SACs) on nitrogen doped carbon dots (NCDs), which were then hybridized with TiO2 to achieve high hydrogen generation activity and to understand the fundamentals at the Pt/NCD/TiO2 interface.
