Journal ArticleDOI
Amygdala-prefrontal coupling underlies individual differences in emotion regulation.
TL;DR: An objective index of the ability to cognitively reappraise negative emotion is obtained and the corrugator measure of regulatory skill predicted amygdala-prefrontal functional connectivity, demonstrating that individual differences in emotion regulation are stable over time.
Journal ArticleDOI
Test-retest reliability of voluntary emotion regulation.
TL;DR: Corrugator represents a trait-like measure of voluntary emotion regulation, whereas startle should be used with caution for assessing individual differences, and the data suggest that corrugator and startle might index partially dissociable constructs and underscore the need to collect multiple measures of emotion.

Amygdalar function reflects common individual differences in emotion and pain regulation success
Regina C. Lapate,Hyejeen Lee,Tim V. Salomons,Carien M. van Reekum,Lawrence L. Greischar,Richard J. Davidson +5 more
TL;DR: It is found that greater emotion regulation success was associated with greater change of amygdalar activity following pain regulation, which suggests that common individual differences in emotion and pain regulatory success are reflected in a neural structure known to contribute to appraisal processes.
