TL;DR: This study shows that the prescription of antibiotics, both antibacterial and antimalarial drugs, is rampant in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo and elucidating the causes of acute fever may lead to a more considerate and rigorous use of antibiotics.

TL;DR: The sharp increase in confirmed malaria cases from 2010 coincides with the introduction of the new treatment policy and the resulting scale-up of diagnostic testing, which implies that before 2010, cases were underreported, and that the accuracy of routine data to describe malaria incidence has improved.
