Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative study on the antioxidant and biological activities of carvacrol, thymol, and eugenol derivatives.

TL;DR: The 4,4'-methylenebis(5-isopropyl-2-methyl)phenol derivative of carvacrol showed lower inhibiting capacity also for the HeLa cells, which makes this particular derivative attractive as an efficient antioxidant with negligible cytotoxic effects.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical composition and antioxidant effect of glycosidically bound volatile compounds from oregano (Origanum vulgare L. ssp. hirtum)

TL;DR: In this article, the content and chemical composition of the glycosidically bound volatiles from oregano as well as their antioxidative properties were examined and compared to the antioxidative activity of essential oil, pure thymol, thymoquinone and also to α-tocoferol.
Journal ArticleDOI

The impact of both the season of collection and drying on the volatile constituents of Origanum vulgare L. ssp. hirtum grown wild in Croatia

TL;DR: Because of the variability of essential oil compositions from seasonally collected fresh and dried oregano, it would be important to check the quantity and quality of such components before usage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Composition and antimicrobial activity of the essential oil of Artemisia absinthium from Croatia and France.

TL;DR: The essential oils obtained by steam distillation from the aerial parts of two populations of Artemisia absinthium, from France and from Croatia, were analyzed by GC and GC-MS as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antioxidant activity, color characteristics, total phenol content and general HPLC fingerprints of six Polish unifloral honey types

TL;DR: In this paper, CIE L * a * b * color coordinates can be helpful for identifying and distinguishing between several Polish unifloral honey types, such as heather and buckwheat, but almost no differences were found among very light honeys (rapeseed, goldenrod, black locust and lime).
