Disclosed is an apparatus for inductively transferring power to movable consumer, it extends in the form of a conductor loop along a trajectory of a predetermined consumer, disposed on the consumer it is capable of power therefrom drawn by the secondary conductor, comprising at least one primary conductor. To produce a simple and inexpensive variable route layout, the device, galvanically (galvanically) isolated two conductor loops are provided, it is assigned to different sectors of the track Te, so that it can be power distributed to the consumer that is transmitted by inductive coupling conductor loop to at least one second conductor loop from the first conductor loop is arranged relative to each other . Sectors of the two conductor loops which is inductively coupled to form a transformer, which is preferably provided with a two-piece ferromagnetic core. Apparatus for transmitting electrical energy inductively

In this paper, a novel solid-state fault current-limiting circuit breaker (SSFCLCB) based on a series resonance LC tank is proposed. Since the series configuration of the resonance structure (a capacitor and a reactor) of the SSFCLCB is invisible during normal operation mode, it shows negligible impedance in the line. In fault conditions, the SSFCLCB topology changes to a rectifier bridge and feeds the resonance structure with rectified ac voltage. With the rectified voltage, the series capacitor is charged and, as a result, the faulty line is opened and the fault current is seized. Hence, the suggested SSFCLCB cannot only limit the fault current but can also open the faulty line and acts as a circuit breaker. For confirmation of these aspects, simulations are performed using MATLAB software. Also, a prototype structure is designed and built for results confirmation. This experimental setup is established to prove that SSFCLCB has excellent performance in its startup, normal operation, and current-limiting/breaking conditions. The results show that the SSFCLCB has the ability to improve distribution network reliability and it can decrease the network fault current level successfully.

A Novel Solid-State Fault Current-Limiting Circuit Breaker for Medium-Voltage Network Applications

The main goal of this study is introducing a novel fault current limiter based on parallel resonance structure (PRFCL) for high voltage application. During normal mode, the PRFCL reactor is short-circuited via a rectifier bridge DC output voltage and LC resonance tank shows negligible impedance in the line. During a fault, the rectifier bridge switches are turned off, so that the parallel resonance LC tank connects to the line with high impedance. This impedance of the resonance structure can limit the fault current, successfully. It is shown that the suggested PRFCL can act as a breaker and opens the line during the fault period. In order to show the suggested PRFCL abilities, MATLAB software is used to simulate the normal and fault cases. In addition, a scale-down prototype is implemented to confirm the simulation results. The comparative study shows that PRFCL has acceptable performance in normal and current limiting operation modes.

Parallel resonance type fault current limiting circuit breaker

This paper proposes a novel multi-terminal grid interface for the decentralized and integrated, unit-level protection of meshed direct current microgrids. In contrast to conventionally used external, non-unit protection or intelligent electronic devices, the integration of the proposed multi-terminal grid interface converts a meshed network into a peer-to-peer structure that offers additional degrees of freedom, increased controllability, and better fault handling with only a few additional components. This paper concentrates on an emerging class of electrical networks termed swarm microgrids. These dynamically growing bottom-up grids have many potential fields of application, in particular as an energy access approach for the global south. When used in swarm microgrids, the presented grid interface eases maintenance and is economically attractive due to its integration of protection and generation.

Zonal protection of DC swarm microgrids using a novel multi-terminal grid interface with decentralized control

In some applications, DC distribution is proving real competition for AC distribution. Mainly in low power applications, short circuit protection in DC systems has proven problematic in the proliferation of such systems. Short cables have low inductance and as such, fault current rises very high very fast. Power electronic devices offer switching of circuits fast enough to limit fault currents in such systems. In this paper, solid state circuit breaker technology is briefly introduced and a few experimental prototypes are discussed as a demonstration of its viability as a solution.

Overview of solid state circuit breaker technology and some recent experiment prototypes

This paper will consider the use of IGBTs in solid state circuit breakers (SSCB). An optimisation process which produces a better structure of IGBT for use in this application is also presented. Advanced 2D device physical simulations show that the use of a charge storage structures is effective in maintaining the trade-off between important characteristics for SSCB. The optimised structure provides an IGBT with a better on-state performance, a maintained forward blocking capability, and a satisfactory switching performance.

IGBT design optimisation for solid-state circuit breaker applications

Inductive resonance coupling is one of wireless power transfer technique. This paper presents a wireless power transfer design using inductive coupling which comply to the requirement of the wireless power consortium (WPC) standards in the resonant frequency range of 110 ∼ 205 kHz. The circuit design and simulation have been conducted using a powerful and free LTspice simulation software with fast fourier transform (FFT) and directive analysis. Transmitter circuit based on royer oscillator circuit and receiver circuit has full wave rectifier, CLC Alter and load of 100 ohm. The result from experiments are the resonant frequency of circuit design of 145 kHz based on the calculation and 142.66 kHz based on the simulation. The difference between the two resonant frequency is caused by the components used in circuit, such as resistance of inductor (RL) transmitter and receiver 0.1 ohm giving resonant frequency 142.66 kHz which close to 145 kHz. Furthermore, the design circuit cannot reach maximum power efficiency when k close to 1, but the designed circuit can result maximum efficiency of 8.14 % when coupling coefficient (k) is 0.90 and the Rl 0.1 ohm.

New insight of the implication blood pressure detection differences using aneroid sphygmomanometer and digital blood pressure on medical examination

Two important parts of wireless power transfer are transmitter circuit and receiver circuit. Previous research has been completed which use CMOS H-Bridge in transmitter and full wave rectifier in receiver. This paper presented simple design of transmitter circuit and optimization of receiver circuit in rectifier circuit with transient analysis and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) from LT spice software. The simple transmitter circuit used an integrated circuit (IC) NE555 with push-pull as oscillator circuit and LC resonant, while the receiver circuit used LC resonant, rectifier circuit, CLC filter for smoothing direct current (DC) output and 500 Ohm as load. The circuit design had resonant frequency of 250 kHz on both of transmitter and receiver, which comply with Power Matters Alliance (PMA) standard. The optimization of rectifier circuit had been done by comparing output of power load when it used basic rectifier (full wave), voltage doubler (dickson circuit and Villard circuit) and voltage multiplier (cockcroft-walton circuit). The results showed the receiver with Dickson circuit as rectifier has the highest efficiency compared to other rectifier circuits with efficiency of 10.93 % when it used coupling coefficient of 0.99, because Dickson rectifier has resonant frequency that is closest to 250 kHz and the highest level power, compared to other rectifier circuits.
