Epidemiological evidence suggests that female athletes may be at a greater risk of concussion than their male counterparts. The purpose of this study was to examine the biomechanics of head impacts associated with diagnosed concussions in a cohort of female collegiate ice hockey players. Instrumented helmets were worn by 58 female ice hockey players from 2 NCAA programs over a three year period. Kinematic measures of single impacts associated with diagnosed concussion and head impact exposure on days with and without diagnosed concussion were evaluated. Nine concussions were diagnosed. Head impact exposure was greater in frequency and magnitude on days of diagnosed concussions than on days without diagnosed concussion for individual athletes. Peak linear accelerations of head impacts associated with diagnosed concussion in this study are substantially lower than those previously reported in male athletes, while peak rotational accelerations are comparable. Further research is warranted to determine the extent to which female athletes' biomechanical tolerance to concussion injuries differs from males.

Biomechanics of head impacts associated with diagnosed concussion in female collegiate ice hockey players

The development of remote control technology has grown rapidly along with the development of communication technology nowadays. The simplest communication technology available is by using GSM protocol. In this paper, a prototype of electric appliance control tool via SMS by using GSM is proposed. GSM protocol was chosen because it does not depend on mobile devices' platform. GSM SIM 900 and Arduino for controlling a relay module were utilized here. Relay module worked in accordance with orders given through SMS and the mobile device then received the feedback of the command. For testing purpose, ten (10) different types of input string as a command control was proceed. Relay worked according to orders sent from the input string submitted and feedback messages from the command given previously was provided.

Electrical appliances control prototype by using GSM module and Arduino

Wireless communication has been widely used in various fields or disciplines such as agriculture, health, engineering, military, and aerospace so as to support the work in that field. The communication technology is typically used for controlling devices and data monitoring. One development of wireless communication is the widely used telemetry system used to reach areas that cannot be reached by humans using UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) or unmanned aircraft. In this paper we discuss the design of telemetry system in UAV using ZigBee protocol. From the test obtained the system can work well with visualization displays without pause is 20 data per second with a maximum data length of 120 characters.

Work related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), poor body postures, and low back injuries are the most common problems occurring in many industries including small-medium industries. This study presents assessment and evaluation of ergonomic postures of material handling worker. That evaluation was carried out using REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment). REBA is a technique to quantize the fatigue experienced by the worker while manually lifting loads. Fatigue due to abnormal work posture leads to complaints of labor-perceived pain. REBA methods were used to an assessment of working postures for the existing process by a procedural analysis of body postures involved. This study shows that parts of the body have a high risk of work are the back, neck, and upper arms with REBA score 9, so action should be taken as soon as possible. Controlling actions were implemented to those process with high risk then substantial risk reduction was achieved.

Evaluation of work posture and quantification of fatigue by Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA)

The purpose of this research was to optimize the backpropagation algorithm process by adding the Nguyen-Widrow method in input layer of feed-forward process and adapting the learning rate parameter in backward process in the backpropagation. In the preprocessing usually the data have not been normalized so the significant to the target output need to be reduce in the input layer process [1]. By embedded Nguyen-Widrow method to adaptive the weight from the generate data that will be adapted by its weight. The changed value will influence the process in the feed-forward step [2]. If the value higher than the target output, the process will continue to adaptive the learning rate in the backward step. The value of the learning rate should be saliently large to allow a fast learning process but small enough to guarantee its effectiveness [3]. In the case of identification the type of a file based on the data input a sequence of training examples, the result of data testing obtained 92% accuracy.
