Assessment of climate variations in temperature and precipitation extreme events over Iran
Mohsen Soltani,Patrick Laux,Harald Kunstmann,Harald Kunstmann,Kayla Stan,Kayla Stan,Mohammad Sohrabi,M. Molanejad,A A Sabziparvar,A. Ranjbar SaadatAbadi,F Ranjbar,Iman Rousta,Peyman Zawar-Reza,F Khoshakhlagh,Iman Soltanzadeh,C. A. Babu,Ghasem Azizi,M. V. Martin +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, changes in the spatial and temporal patterns of climate extreme indices were analyzed, with a large proportion of stations having statistically significant trends for all temperature indices, with no spatially coherent pattern of change, whereas statistically significant changes in extreme temperature events have occurred at more than 85% of all weather stations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spatiotemporal analysis of land use/land cover and its effects on surface urban heat island using Landsat data: a case study of Metropolitan city Tehran (1988-2018).
Iman Rousta,Sarif,R. D. Gupta,Haraldur Ólafsson,Manjula Ranagalage,Yuji Murayama,Hao Zhang,Terence Darlington Mushore +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the spatiotemporal pattern of land use/land cover (LU/LC) and urban heat island (UHI) dynamics in the Metropolitan city of Tehran between 1988 and 2018 was summarized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impacts of Drought on Vegetation Assessed by Vegetation Indices and Meteorological Factors in Afghanistan
Iman Rousta,Iman Rousta,Haraldur Ólafsson,Moniruzzaman,Hao Zhang,Yuei An Liou,Terence Darlington Mushore,Amitesh Gupta +7 more
TL;DR: The results showed that the vegetation coverage for the whole country, reaching the lowest levels of 6.2% and 5.5% were observed in drought years 2001 and 2008, however, there is a huge inter-regional variation in vegetation coverage in the study period with a significant rising trend in Helmand Watershed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gap-Filling of MODIS Time Series Land Surface Temperature (LST) Products Using Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA)
TL;DR: In this article, the singular spectrum analysis (SSA) algorithm was used to resolve the problem of missing and outlier data caused by cloud cover in satellite LST data, and the results of the SSA algorithm in the reconstruction of LST images indicated a root mean square error of 2.95 Kelvin (K) between the original and reconstructed LST time series data in the study region.
Journal ArticleDOI
Remotely sensed retrieval of Local Climate Zones and their linkages to land surface temperature in Harare metropolitan city, Zimbabwe
Terence Darlington Mushore,Terence Darlington Mushore,Timothy Dube,Moven Manjowe,Wester Gumindoga,Abel Chemura,Abel Chemura,Iman Rousta,John Odindi,Onisimo Mutanga +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Transformed Divergence Separability Index (TDSI) was used to determine Local Climate Zones (LCZs) in Harare metropolitan City, using Landsat 8 multi-spectral and multi-temporal data.
