Viper and cobra venom neutralization by β-sitosterol and stigmasterol isolated from the root extract of Pluchea indica Less. (Asteraceae)

TL;DR: The present study reports the neutralization of viper and cobra venom by beta-sitosterol and stigmasterol isolated from the root extract of P. indica Less and suggests that beta- sitosterol or stig masterol may play an important role, along with antiserum, in neutralizing snake venom-induced actions.

Antisnake venom activity of ethanolic seed extract of Strychnos nux vomica Linn.

TL;DR: The whole seed extract of S. nux vomica effectively neutralized Daboia russelii venom induced lethal, haemorrhage, defibrinogenating, PLA2 enzyme activity and Naja kaouthia venominduced lethal, cardiotoxic, neurotoxic, PLA, enzyme activity, and potentiated polyvalent snake venom antiserum action in experimental animals.
