Journal ArticleDOI

Treatment and disposal of tyres: Two EU approaches. A review

TL;DR: The properties of tyre waste and their potential reuse, the enhancement of end-of-life tires and the various types of recovery, such as the reconstruction of tyres and the material recovery are considered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Management of waste electrical and electronic equipment in two EU countries: a comparison.

TL;DR: The aim of this research was to analyze some problems that countries entering the EU will have to solve with respect to WEEE management, and the experiences of Italy and Romania could provide an interesting reference point.
Journal ArticleDOI

Trends in the management of residual municipal solid waste.

TL;DR: A theoretical scenario is made where the residual municipal solid waste is composed only of non‐recyclable fractions and the role of the organic fraction as selective collection can significantly decrease its content in the residual waste.
Journal ArticleDOI

Decontamination of Petroleum-Contaminated Soils Using The Electrochemical Technique: Remediation Degree and Energy Consumption.

TL;DR: Assessment of energy consumption related to the electrochemical treatment of polluted soil with petroleum hydrocarbons revealed that with an increase in the quantity of treated soil of approximately three times, the specific energy consumption decreased from 2.94 kWh/kg treated soil to 1.64 kWh/ kg treated soil.
Journal ArticleDOI

Remediation of Soil Polluted by Organic Compounds Through Chemical Oxidation and Phytoremediation Combined With DCT

TL;DR: An experimental application was included that compared three methods of remediation of contaminated sites, based on electric fields: A single treatment (electroremediation); and two combined treatments, phyto-electrochemical and electrooxidation (a combination of chemical treatment and a DCT—direct current technology).
