Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence for active subduction beneath Gibraltar

TL;DR: In this paper, a marine seismic survey that images an active accretionary wedge west of Gibraltar is reported, indicating ongoing westward-vergent tectonic shortening, and provides compelling evidence for an active east-dipping subduction zone.
Journal ArticleDOI

Brazilian and African passive margins of the Central Segment of the South Atlantic Ocean: Kinematic constraints

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors show that the sag basin is divided into an autochthonous part (upper continental crust) and an allochthonal part (exhumed material) and that the thinning process, which evolves in an elevated position of the system until at least the break-up, seems to be depth dependent and to mainly concern the lower/middle crust, which is exhumed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Geological constraints on the evolution of the Angolan margin based on reflection and refraction seismic data (ZaïAngo project)

TL;DR: In this article, deep penetration multichannel reflection and Ocean Bottom Seismometer wide-angle seismic data from the Congo-Angola margin were collected in 2000 during the Za¨ iAngo cruise.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deep structure of the West African continental margin (Congo, Zaïre, Angola), between 5°S and 8°S, from reflection/refraction seismics and gravity data

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the deep structure of the West African continental margin between 5°S and 8°S using vertical reflection and wide-angle reflection/refraction techniques, during the ZaiAngo project, a joint programme conducted in 2000 April by Ifremer and TotalFinaElf.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structural evolution of the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea from new seismic data

TL;DR: In this paper, the results of the deep penetrating LISA seismic survey supplemented by several industrial oil surveys are presented, showing the deep part of the crust and the Moho reflections are seen at 7.5-8 s TWTT on several seismic lines on the Tuscan (eastern) margin of the North Tyrrhenian Sea.
