Journal ArticleDOI

Screening of antibacterial extracts from plants native to the Brazilian Amazon Rain Forest and Atlantic Forest

TL;DR: More than 20% of the world's biodiversity is located in Brazilian forests and only a few plant extracts have been evaluated for potential antibacterial activity, so the most active fractions are being fractionated to identify their active substances.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antibacterial and cytotoxic activity of Brazilian plant extracts - Clusiaceae

TL;DR: Twelve extracts obtained from nine plants belonging to six different genera of Clusiaceae were analyzed against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria using the microdilution broth assay and none of the antibacterial extracts showed lethal activity against brine shrimp nauplii.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antibacterial activity of Brazilian Amazon plant extracts

TL;DR: This work screened 1,220 organic and aqueous extracts, obtained from Amazon and Atlantic rain forest plants, against Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and E. coli, and none of the extracts showed relevant activity against the Gram-negative E.coli.
Journal ArticleDOI

In vitro cytotoxic activity of Brazilian plant extracts against human lung, colon and CNS solid cancers and leukemia

TL;DR: The cytotoxicity of extracts obtained from plants occurring in the Amazon and Atlantic rain forests against NCI-H460, KM-12, SF-268 and RPMI-8226 cancer cell lines was investigated.
