Screening of antibacterial extracts from plants native to the Brazilian Amazon Rain Forest and Atlantic Forest
Ivana Barbosa Suffredini,Helio S. Sader,A.G. Gonçalves,Adriana O. Reis,Ana Cristina Gales,Antonio Drauzio Varella,Riad Naim Younes +6 more
TL;DR: More than 20% of the world's biodiversity is located in Brazilian forests and only a few plant extracts have been evaluated for potential antibacterial activity, so the most active fractions are being fractionated to identify their active substances.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antibacterial and cytotoxic activity of Brazilian plant extracts - Clusiaceae
Ivana Barbosa Suffredini,Mateus Luís Barradas Paciencia,Daniela C Nepomuceno,Riad Naim Younes,Antonio Drauzio Varella +4 more
TL;DR: Twelve extracts obtained from nine plants belonging to six different genera of Clusiaceae were analyzed against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria using the microdilution broth assay and none of the antibacterial extracts showed lethal activity against brine shrimp nauplii.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antibacterial activity of Brazilian Amazon plant extracts
Ivana Barbosa Suffredini,Mateus Luís Barradas Paciencia,Antonio Drauzio Varella,Riad Naim Younes +3 more
TL;DR: This work screened 1,220 organic and aqueous extracts, obtained from Amazon and Atlantic rain forest plants, against Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and E. coli, and none of the extracts showed relevant activity against the Gram-negative E.coli.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antibacterial effects and cytotoxicity of an adhesive containing low concentration of silver nanoparticles.
Maristela Dutra-Correa,Alessandra A.B.V. Leite,Sueli Patricia Harumi Miyagi de Cara,Ivana Márcia Alves Diniz,Márcia Martins Marques,Ivana Barbosa Suffredini,Marina Struncová Fernandes,Sérgio Hiroshi Toma,Koiti Araki,Igor Studart Medeiros +9 more
TL;DR: The addition of low concentrations of NAg to primers were effective to improve antibacterial effect preserving the bond strength and the biocompatibility of the commercial product.
Journal ArticleDOI
In vitro cytotoxic activity of Brazilian plant extracts against human lung, colon and CNS solid cancers and leukemia
Ivana Barbosa Suffredini,Mateus Luís Barradas Paciencia,Antonio Drauzio Varella,Riad Naim Younes +3 more
TL;DR: The cytotoxicity of extracts obtained from plants occurring in the Amazon and Atlantic rain forests against NCI-H460, KM-12, SF-268 and RPMI-8226 cancer cell lines was investigated.
