Micro-EDM drilling of tapered holes for industrial applications

TL;DR: In this paper, the development of a novel technique to produce reverse tapered micro-holes (EDM electrode exit diameter is larger than EDM electrode entry diameter) using EDM (electro-discharge machining), to a production standard that could be applied to real products in industry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sequential Laser and EDM Micro-drilling for Next Generation Fuel Injection Nozzle Manufacture

TL;DR: In this article, a laser-drilled pilot hole is rimmed out by EDM drilling, and a hybrid process has been proposed to eliminate recast and heat affected zones typically associated with the laser drilling process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Shaped tube electrochemical drilling of good quality holes

TL;DR: In this paper, the shape tube electrochemical drilling (STED) of small diameter cooling holes in turbine blades was investigated and a partial factorial design of experiments (DOE) was carried out to identify the more important process parameters that affect hole quality.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modelling of the electrochemical machining process by the boundary element method

TL;DR: In this paper, the boundary element method is used to model the machining of simple milling and turning features, and a 3D model uses linear triangular elements to discretise the workpiece and tool surfaces.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improving the geometry and quality of a micro-hole fuel injection nozzle by means of hydroerosive grinding:

TL;DR: In this article, the keyhole problem in diesel fuel injection can be eliminated by applying a low viscosity fluid through the injection holes in a fuel injection nozzle to calibrate the nozzle flowrate, improve surface finish, pre-age the nozzle radius and micro-deburr the hole edge at the fuel inlet.
