Journal ArticleDOI
Deterministic quantum teleportation with atoms
M. Riebe,Hartmut Häffner,Christian F. Roos,W. Hänsel,J. Benhelm,G.P.T. Lancaster,T. Körber,Christoph Becher,Ferdinand Schmidt-Kaler,Daniel F. V. James,Rainer Blatt,Rainer Blatt +11 more
TL;DR: Deterministic quantum-state teleportation between a pair of trapped calcium ions is reported, demonstrating unequivocally the quantum nature of the process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Towards fault-tolerant quantum computing with trapped ions
TL;DR: In this article, a gate operation for entangling qubits has been implemented with a fidelity exceeding 99.3% on a pair of qubits encoded in two trapped calcium ions using an amplitude-modulated laser beam interacting with both ions at the same time.
Journal ArticleDOI
Control and measurement of three-qubit entangled states.
Christian F. Roos,M. Riebe,Hartmut Häffner,W. Hänsel,J. Benhelm,G.P.T. Lancaster,Christoph Becher,Ferdinand Schmidt-Kaler,Rainer Blatt,Rainer Blatt +9 more
TL;DR: The deterministic creation of maximally entangled three-qubit states—specifically the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) state and the W state—with a trapped-ion quantum computer is reported and conditional operations controlled by the results from reading out one qubit are demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Absolute frequency measurement of the 40Ca+ 4s(2)S_(1/2)-3d(2)D_(5/2) clock transition.
M. Chwalla,J. Benhelm,J. Benhelm,Kihwan Kim,Gerhard Kirchmair,Gerhard Kirchmair,Thomas Monz,M. Riebe,Philipp Schindler,Alessandro S. Villar,W. Hänsel,C. Roos,C. Roos,Rainer Blatt,Rainer Blatt,Michel Abgrall,Giorgio Santarelli,G.D. Rovera,P. Laurent +18 more
TL;DR: In this article, the first absolute transition frequency measurement at the 10−15−1/15−2 level with a single, laser-cooled ion in a linear Paul trap was reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deterministic entanglement of ions in thermal states of motion
Gerhard Kirchmair,Gerhard Kirchmair,J. Benhelm,J. Benhelm,F. Zähringer,F. Zähringer,Rene Gerritsma,Rene Gerritsma,Christian F. Roos,Christian F. Roos,Rainer Blatt,Rainer Blatt +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the implementation of a M?lmer?S?rensen gate entangling two 40Ca+ ions using a bichromatic laser beam near-resonant with a quadrupole transition.
