Journal ArticleDOI

Inducible erythromycin resistance in staphlyococci is encoded by a member of the ATP‐binding transport super‐gene family

TL;DR: The deduced sequence of the 488‐amino‐acid protein (MsrA) revealed the presence of two ATP‐binding motifs homologous to those of a family of transport‐related proteins from Gram‐negative bacteria and eukaryotic cells, including the P‐glycoprotein responsible for multidrug resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sequence of nifL from Klebsiella pneumoniae: mode of action and relationship to two families of regulatory proteins.

TL;DR: The nucleotide sequence of K. pneumoniae nifL, which negatively regulates nif transcription in response to oxygen and fixed nitrogen, appears to lack a DNA‐binding motif, consistent with evidence that NifL represses by interacting directiy with NifA.
Journal ArticleDOI

Single and multiple mutations affecting properties of the regulatory gene nodD of Rhizobium.

TL;DR: Doubly mutant derivatives of nodD were constructed by making nodD genes with a mutation that conferred the ability to activate transcription of nod genes in the absence of inducers plus another that abolished autoregulation and/or flavonoid‐dependent nod gene activation.
