Mechanisms of Mantle Metasomatism: Geochemical Evidence from the Lherz Orogenic Peridotite

TL;DR: In this paper, a 65 cm harzburgite section perpendicular to an amphibole pyroxenite vein from the Lherz massif reveals a strong mineralogical and chemical zonation with distance from the vein-host boundary.
Journal ArticleDOI

Petrogenesis of layered pyroxenites from the Lherz, Freychinéde and Prades ultramafic bodies (Ariége, French Pyrénées)

TL;DR: The pyroxenite bands in spinel Iherzolites from three high-temperature peridotite massifs (Lherz, Freychinede and Prades) in Ariege (French Pyrenees) have geochemical features including distributions of Mg, Ca, K, Ti, Zr and REE typical of cumulates derived by high P−T crystal segregation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Petrogenetic evolution of orogenic lherzolite massifs in the central and western Pyrenees

TL;DR: In this paper, a petrological and geothermobarometric study of several tens of representative spinel peridotite and coexisting pyroxenite samples indicates that orogenic lherzolite massifs of the central-western Pyrenees (CWP) display significant differences from those of the eastern pyrenees and can be explained by accretion of asthenospheric protoliths to the lithosphere via passive cooling or very limited degrees of adiabatic melting.
