Journal ArticleDOI

Quantitative genetic analysis and comparison of physical and sensory descriptors relating to fruit flesh firmness in apple (Malus pumila Mill.)

TL;DR: The use of sensory assessment proved valuable in detecting QTLs representing different attributes of fruit texture, and the possibility of interaction between significant Q TLs for fruit texture and other strongly selected traits such as scab resistance and fruit acidity is addressed.
Book ChapterDOI

Early selection for partial resistance to powdery mildew, Podosphaera leucotricha (Ell. et Ev.) Salm. in apple progenies

TL;DR: Nursery selection for partial mildew resistance can be effective, but the efficiency varies between populations, and individual correlations of resistance between nursery and orchard also varied per progeny.
