Journal ArticleDOI

Cardiorespiratory response to treadmill and bicycle exercise in runners.

TL;DR: It is concluded that the differences between the $$\dot VO_2 $$ max values obtained on the bicycle ergometer and on the treadmill are influenced by the training conditions of the subjects and that bicycle ergometry leads to a marked underestimation of maximal oxygen uptake in runners.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cardiorespiratory response to bicycle and rowing ergometer exercise in oarsmen

TL;DR: The difference between the results obtained in control subjects and in oarsmen supports the concept of training specificity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Regional blood flow in response to exercise in conscious dogs.

TL;DR: Study of the blood flow distribution within the myocardium showed a slight decrease of the ratio of subendocardial to subepicardial blood flow in the left ventricular free wall in response to exercise, and within the brain there was a relative increase in theBlood flow to the cerebellum.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cardiac output distribution during induced static muscular contractions in the dog.

TL;DR: The results show that the reflex under study causes a redistribution of the cardiac output during static muscular contractions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Potassium potently relaxes small rat skeletal muscle arteries.

TL;DR: Even small increases in extracellular K+ concentration elicit large endothelium-independent and ouabain-sensitive relaxations in small skeletal muscle arteries.
