Transient midventricular ballooning syndrome: a new variant.
R. Todd Hurst,J. Wells Askew,Christina S. Reuss,Richard W. Lee,John P. Sweeney,F. David Fortuin,Jae K. Oh,A. Jamil Tajik +7 more
TL;DR: A new variant of transient left ventricular (LV) ballooning in North American Caucasian patients in which only the midventricle is affected is described, raising further questions in the understanding of the "brain-heart" relationship.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel solid-state-detector dedicated cardiac camera for fast myocardial perfusion imaging: multicenter comparison with standard dual detector cameras.
Fabio Esteves,Paolo Raggi,Russell D. Folks,Zohar Keidar,J. Wells Askew,Shmuel Rispler,Michael K. O'Connor,L. Verdes,Ernest V. Garcia +8 more
TL;DR: The diagnostic performance of DNM is comparable to that of S-SPECT on a per-patient basis, however, superior image quality can be achieved with significantly shorter acquisition times with DNM because of improved count sensitivity and image contrast over S- SPECT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy: A Unique Cardiomyopathy With Variable Ventricular Morphology
TL;DR: Diagnosis of takotsubo cardiomyopathy has important implications for clinical management at presentation and afterward, and a small subset of patients has potentially life-threatening complications during the initial presentation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early and Late Outcomes of Surgical Treatment in Carcinoid Heart Disease
Heidi M. Connolly,Hartzell V. Schaff,Martin D. Abel,Joseph Rubin,J. Wells Askew,Zhuo Li,Jacob J. Inda,Sushil Allen Luis,Rick A. Nishimura,Patricia A. Pellikka +9 more
TL;DR: Operative mortality associated with valve replacement surgery for CaHD has decreased and Symptomatic and survival benefit is noted in most patients when CaHD is managed by an experienced multidisciplinary team.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolated Left Ventricular Basal Ballooning Phenotype of Transient Cardiomyopathy in Young Women
Christina S. Reuss,Steven J. Lester,R. Todd Hurst,J. Wells Askew,Paul Nager,Joan L. Lusk,Gregory T. Altemose,A. Jamil Tajik +7 more
TL;DR: In conclusion, the entity described in this report is reminiscent of apical ballooning ("Tako-Tsubo"), mid-ventricular ballooning, and apical sparing syndromes; however, isolated basal left ventricular involvement has not been previously described and is a newer variant in the spectrum of transient cardiomyopathies.
