Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnostic re-classification and prognostic risk stratification of patients with acute chest pain
TL;DR: A national register should be the next logical step to monitor and guide the application of effective therapeutic measures and clinical outcomes in patients with myocardial infarction.
Journal ArticleDOI
711-2 Recombinant-hirudin (CGP 39 393) Reduces the Incidence of Major Adverse Cardiac Events, Reported within the First 96 Hours Post-Angioplasty in Unstable Patients (Braunwald Classification) Pre-treated by Heparin
Patrick W. Serruys,Keith A.A. Fox,Jean-Paul R. Herrman,Doris Bach,Philip Close,Jaap W. Deckers +5 more
TL;DR: In patients with unstable angina who were receiving heparin at the time of randomization, hirudin i.v.c, for 72 hrs, substantially reduces the incidence of major adverse cardiac events encountered during the first 96 hrs following PTCA, when compared to he parin as anticoagulant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitative angiographic follow-up studies on the development of coronary artery disease: which coronary segments should be analyzed? Experience from INTACT.
Stefan Jost,Stefan Jost,Jaap W. Deckers,Jaap W. Deckers,Wolf Rafflenbeul,Wolf Rafflenbeul,Johan H. C. Reiber,Peter Nikutta,Peter Nikutta,Birgitt Wiese,Birgitt Wiese,Hartmut Hecker,Hartmut Hecker,Peter Lippolt,Peter Lippolt,Matthias Riedel,Matthias Riedel,Carsten W. T. Nolte,Carsten W. T. Nolte,Paul R. Lichtlen,Paul R. Lichtlen +20 more
TL;DR: Since the absolute number of new lesions was high in distal coronary segments, but low in segments with diameters<2 mm, angiographic follow-up studies should analyze coronary segments at any location, but may neglect segments with diameter smaller than 2 mm.
Journal ArticleDOI
The new European Society of Cardiology guidelines on myocardial revascularisation: an appraisal
TL;DR: The latest ESC guidelines on myocardial revascularisation are reviewed and the encouragement of a balanced multidisciplinary decision process (the ‘heart team’) is welcome and a balanced discussion of the pros and cons of percutaneous coronary intervention is missing.
Journal Article
[Trends in prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors and their treatment in coronary heart disease: the Euroaspire-project].
TL;DR: Treatment of the most important cardiovascular risk factors has intensified over the past few years, and overweight, hypertension and diabetes have become more important in the past decade.
