Journal ArticleDOI
The World Health Organization/International Society of Urological Pathology consensus classification of urothelial (transitional cell) neoplasms of the urinary bladder
Jonathan I. Epstein,Mahul B. Amin,Victor R. Reuter,Fathollah K. Mostofi,Ferran Algaba,William C. Allsbrook,Alberto G. Ayala,Michael J. Becich,Antonio Lòpez Beltran,Lilliane Boccon-Gibod,David G. Bostwick,Christer Busch,Charles J. Davis,John N. Eble,Christopher S. Foster,Masakuni Furusato,David J. Grignon,Peter A. Humphrey,Elia A. Ishak,Sonny L. Johansson,Edward C. Jones,Leopold G. Koss,Howard S. Levin,William M. Murphy,Robert O. Petersen,Andrew A. Renshaw,Jae Y. Ro,Jeffrey R. Ross,Isabell A. Sesterhenn,John R. Srigley,Sueli Suzigan,John B. Tomaszewski,Patricia Troncoso,Lawrence D. True,Mark Weiss,Thomas M. Wheeler,Robert H. Young +36 more
TL;DR: The aim was to develop a universally acceptable classification system for bladder neoplasia that could be used effectively by pathologists, urologists, and oncologists.
Journal ArticleDOI
Frequent microsatellite alterations at chromosomes 9p21 and 3p14 in oral premalignant lesions and their value in cancer risk assessment
Li Mao,Jin S. Lee,You H. Fan,Jae Y. Ro,John G. Batsakis,Scott M. Lippman,Walter N. Hittelman,Waun Ki Hong +7 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that multiple genetic alterations have already occurred in oral premalignant lesions, allowing at least a focal clonal expansion; and that losses of the 9p21 and 3p14 regions may be related to early processes of tumorigenesis in HNSCC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sarcomatoid differentiation in renal cell carcinoma: A study of 101 cases
Mariza de Peralta-Venturina,Holger Moch,Mitual Amin,Pheroze Tamboli,Seife Hailemariam,Michael J. Mihatsch,Javid Javidan,Hans Stricker,Jae Y. Ro,Mahul B. Amin +9 more
TL;DR: In conclusion, sarcomatoid change in renal cell carcinoma portends a worse prognosis, and tumors with even a small component of sarcom atoid change may have an adverse outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clonal Genetic Alterations in the Lungs of Current and Former Smokers
Li Mao,Jin Soo Lee,Jonathan M. Kurie,You Hong Fan,Scott M. Lippman,J. Jack Lee,Jae Y. Ro,Anita Broxson,Ren Yu,Rodolfo C. Morice,Bonnie L. Kemp,Fadlo R. Khuri,Garrett L. Walsh,Walter N. Hittelman,Waun Ki Hong +14 more
TL;DR: The presence of squamous metaplasia and dysplasia (abnormal histologic changes) in the specimens was documented by examination of hematoxylin-eosin-stained sections, and a meta plasia index was calculated for each subject.
Journal ArticleDOI
Suppression of retinoic acid receptor—β in premalignant oral lesions and its up-regulation by isotretinoin
TL;DR: Retinoic acid receptor-beta may have a role in mediating the response to retinoids and may be a useful intermediate biologic marker in trials of these agents for the prevention of oral carcinogenesis.
