Journal ArticleDOI

The asset of ultra-fast digitizers for positron-lifetime spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this article, a spectrometer for positron-lifetime measurements assembled from two BaF2 scintillation detectors and two 8-bit, 4 GS s - 1 digitizes in a master-slave configuration is described in detail.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of different c/a ratio on the microstructure and mechanical properties in magnesium alloys processed by ECAP

TL;DR: In this article, a complex investigation of mechanical properties is performed using uni-axial tensile and compression deformation tests and also by Vickers indentation that simulates multiaxial deformation, and it was shown that by tailoring the c/a ratio the typical texture development could be effectively suppressed in magnesium alloys processed by ECAP and in such way the negative effect of texture on strength can be avoided.
Journal ArticleDOI

A high-resolution BaF2 positron-lifetime spectrometer and experience with its long-term exploitation

TL;DR: A spectrometer for measuring positron lifetimes in solids is described in this article, which consists of a pair of BaF2 scintillators coupled to Philips photomultipliers XP2020Q and a fast-slow coincidence system composed of standard NIM modules.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evolution of defects in copper deformed by high-pressure torsion

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used positron annihilation spectroscopy (PAS) combined with transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Vicker's microhardness (HV) measurements to examine the evolution of the microstructure during HPT processing.
